The Polish Book Institute

The London Book Fair – one of the most important book fairs in the publishing world – began yesterday. As every year, the Book Institute is organising a Polish stand in order to make it easier for domestic publishers to establish business contacts and enable the sale of copyrights, thus increasing the presence of Polish literature on foreign markets.

Visitors to the fair will be able to discover the offer of twenty-four Polish exhibitors. On a 90 square metre stand, the following exhibitors will be present: ZNAK Social Publishing Institute, Jagiellonian University Press, Wydawnictwo Literackie, Wydawnictwo WAM, Dom Wydawniczy Rebis, OZGraf – Olsztyn Graphic Works, Opolgraf, Międzynarodowe Centrum Kultury, inkBOOK, Wydawnictwo Glossa, Wydawnictwo Dwie Siostry, Mamy dla Mamy, Druga Strona Poznania, Helion, Polish Your Kitchen, Topo Sármata, Grupa Wydawnicza Foksal, Powergraph, MAKAMI – the Marek Kaminski Institute, Studio Koloru, Wydawnictwo Poznańskie, Agora, Mazowieckie Centrum Polografii, and Pozkal.

In addition, the Book Institute will present new titles from the catalogue 'New Books from Poland 2022' and 'Polish Books from Children and Young Adults 2023' A selection of books published with the support of our ©POLAND Translation Programme will also be presented, with a particular focus on titles translated into English and Ukrainian.

The London Book Fair is the most important book fair in the world - next to the Frankfurt Fair - and is attended in large numbers by publishers, agents, and authors from all over the world.

This year, Ukraine will be the protagonist of the Spotlight Programme, an initiative of the London Fair to highlight and specifically showcase the literature of a selected country, with a series of events, meetings, and panel discussions. The discussions will focus on Ukrainian writers' responses to the war, the role books play in the fight against disinformation and for democracy, women's voices in these discussions, and writing from the front line. One of the speakers will be the first lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.

The fair will last until 20 April.
